  A 2013 survey found that viewers in five countries saw dramatic declines in religious content. The survey found a 44% decline in the number of broadcast religious programs per person in Europe, the lowest percentage for a decade and the second-lowest number since 1999.

  
  

  In the UK, "there is an immediate likelihood of a repeat of the boom years in religious programming the BBC experienced five years ago," said the study's co-author, Richard Dalby, director for religious freedom at the Association of Religious Churches in Britain.

  
  

  The highest percentage of people watching religious programmes has increased in the US, followed by the UK and France.

  
  

  Scottish Prime Minister Alex Salmond indicated his support for the European Union's commitment to religious freedom.

  
  

  However, he is a skeptic of the report and says he expects a decline to be between 5% and 10% in the future, depending on the growth in popularity.

  
  

  Rated "much more progressive" than the 2012 report by the Australian Religion Foundation, the Global Freedoms Report states that the number one ranking concern for religious groups was discrimination in the workplace.

  The Jinan Religious and Social Development Association will hold the meeting, which will include Chinese and international experts on social justice and the rebirth of buddhaism in the Chinese society.

  
  

  Buddhism has been growing in China for thousands of years. Its rise coincided with the emergence of Chinese society in the third quarter of the twentieth century, as a result of which it is now one of China's top three religions.

  
  

  In 1986 China became the world's first to officially recognize the teachings of the Buddha as a distinct religion. However, the country's lack of religious freedom after this announcement has been complicated by government policies that restrict freedom of religion. The Buddhist community has been in conflict with the government since 1985, when there were only two faiths in the country.

  
  

  Sinologist Zhao Liu and Chinese nationalist leader Deng Xiaoping organized the major protests during the early 1990s.

  
  

  The church of the Tibetan Buddhists has been trying to reach out to Tibetic people with a campaign called Buddapur: A Tibe-Chinese Religion.
