SWIMMING ON A BEACH – USE INFORMAL DICTION IN YOUR ESSAY

Wassup dude? Beach time is the best time to do some swimmin’ and get amped on those waves. Nothin’ cooler than hittin’ the sand and sea on a hot day. I’m always lookin’ to take a dip when the sun is high and bop around in the azure water. The beach is where it’s at for gettin’ your swim on.

Now I live pretty close to the coast so I’m lucky to have the ocean right there whenever I feel like doin’ some laps or floating around. All my homies are always down to go too so we get a wicked crew together for aqua fun in the sun. Doesn’t matter if it’s the mornin’ or afternoon, we’ll take any chance we get to soak in those surf vibes. I’ll chuck on my boardies and a rashie then grab my towel, sunnies and a speaker to get the tunes pumpin’.

When we roll up, it’s all about finding a sweet spot to set up camp. Can’t be too close to the water line or your stuff will get washed away for sure. But you also don’t wanna be so far back that you miss out on the waves. I like to scout for a nice open patch of sand with plenty of room to lounge around. Once our gear is sorted, it’s time for the main event. Nothin’ gets the adrenaline buzzin’ like that first splash into the ocean.

The water is always chilly at first but it feels so refreshin’ on a hot day. I’ll usually wade in slowly to acclimate before doin’ some warm up strokes. It’s important to get your body prepared so you don’t cramp up later. Once I’m properly wet, that’s when the fun really starts. I love messin’ around close to shore, tryna catch the smaller rollers and see how long I can ride em’ in. It’s a total rush. You gotta be careful not to slam your head on the bottom if you wipe out though!

If the waves are decent, you’ll probably see everyone trying to hang ten. It looks so gnarly when people catch a wave and shred along, perfectly balanced. Though between you and me, I’m not the best surfer. Still working on my popping up and catching skills haha. No shame in that, I’m happy just to boogie board most days. Laying on the board and coasting in is a vibe. Further out is where the bigger swell is at, which attracts all the hardcore boarders and bodysurfers. I’ll admire them from a safe distance!

After gettin’ my blood pumpin’ in the breakers, it’s time for some chill relaxation. Nothin’ better than floating on your back and gazing at the sky while the ocean gently rocks you. Sometimes I’ll listen to a podcast or tunes if my speaker is still dry. Other times it’s nice to just zone out and feel one with the brine. You can spend hours drifting around like that if you want. But eventually the hunger hits and it’s time for a feed. There’s nothin’ better than chowing down a burger straight after some aquatic fun in the sun.

Once you’ve refueled, it’s usually time for round two in the surf. I’ll venture back out for more boogie boarding or see if the waves have improved for surfing. Rinse and repeat as many times as you can before it starts getting late. No day at the beach is complete without a calming stroll as the sun dips below the horizon. It’s so meditative walking beside the shoreline as the orange glow paints the sky. You take it all in and feel grateful for the ocean vibes that recharge your soul. By the time I pack up to head home, I’m on cloud nine from all the beach time shenanigans.

Hittin’ the beach for swimmin’ and good times in the surf is totally righteous. There’s no better feeling than emerging refreshed after letting the waves pummel ya. The ocean is a magical place where you can zone out, rev up, and feel alive. It’s easy to see why beaches are such a staple summer destination. So next time you wanna kick back and enjoy God’s great blue gym, rally some homies and go get wet! The beach awaits to replenish your soul with some waves, sun and stoke. Later days my friend, see you out there in the brine!

NINJARTIST BIOLOGY ESSAY

The hidden island of Ninjart is home to a mysterious race of people known as the Ninjartists. For centuries, the exact nature of their biology has eluded scientists and scholars from the outside world. In recent years some key facts have been uncovered through covert observation and limited contact with these secretive people.

The Ninjartists are humanoid in overall form, with a basic physiology similar to Homo sapiens. Certain distinctive features set them apart physically. Ninjartists tend to be smaller in stature than average humans, with a lean, compact muscular build suited for agility, speed and climbing. Their skin is pale white from rarely being exposed to sunlight on their forested home island. Perhaps the most notable physical trait is an extra set of cartilage-tipped tendons running the length of their forearms. This biological quirk allows the Ninjartists to rapidly flex and extend their wrists, hands and fingers with blinding speed – a key evolutionary adaptation for their arts of stealth and combat.

Investigation into Ninjartist genetics has revealed some intriguing findings. Their DNA shows both human and unknown ancient hominin ancestry, suggesting interbreeding with archaic species in the deep past. One hypothesis is that their remote island was once inhabited by an undiscovered branch of Homo erectus or similar hominid. Intermixing with the original human settlers of Ninjart would explain the Ninjartists’ mosaic of distinctly human and more primitive physical traits. Analysis of mitochondrial DNA places their divergence from other human populations at over 30,000 years ago, implying extremely long-term isolation on their island home.

Physiologically, Ninjartists have a number of specialized adaptations for surviving and thriving in their challenging island environment. They possess an incredible capacity for breathing control, able to drastically slow their respiratory and heart rates at will. This allows heightened awareness and covert movement. Ninjartist bone and muscle structure is optimized for climbing, jumping, and absorbing impact with agility comparable to the most athletic humans. Their cardiovascular fitness far surpasses even elite athletes, with amazing stamina and recovery.

The senses of Ninjartists are also finely honed through selection and training. Their vision is superbly sensitive to low light, while their hearing can detect sounds inaudible to humans. An enhanced sense of balance and proprioception aids precarious movements. Perhaps most notably, Ninjartists seem to possess a sixth sense akin to a prey animal’s perception of predators. They demonstrate an uncanny awareness of being watched or followed, even without visual or auditory cues.

On the cognitive and behavioural levels, Ninjartists show both human-like and more primitive traits. Their language, culture, tool-use and social organization clearly place them within the human branch of the hominin family tree. Feral or isolated individuals occasionally observed have reverted to a more solitary, vigilant and territorial lifestyle resembling our early hominin ancestors. Lab studies on captive Ninjartists indicate some cognitive differences such as enhanced spatial reasoning abilities and superb short-term eidetic memory likely linked to their craft.

The amalgam of unusually specialized biological adaptations and partially archaic ancestry make the Ninjartists one of the most remarkable extant examples of human evolution. While superficially appearing human, closer examination shows they retain subtle signs of their earlier hominin heritage melded with uniquely beneficial mutations. Through natural selection and cultural traditions, the people of Ninjart have sculpted themselves into the pinnacle of stealth, agility and awareness – defying comparison to any other human population on Earth. Their long isolation has granted a rare glimpse into the possibilities of the deep past within our own species. Though their secrets remain largely hidden, each new discovery only heightens the mystery and allure of this singular race of biological ninjas.

SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY COMPUTER SCIENCE FOR UNIVERSITY

I’ve always had a profound fascination with how computers work and an innate curiosity to understand the logical systems that power the technology all around us. From a very young age, I enjoyed taking apart old electronics to see their inner workings, then trying to put them back together. While other kids my age were outside playing sports or games, I spent hours on the family computer learning how to write basic programs and experimenting with coding. This innate curiosity and passion for problem solving eventually led me to choose computer science as my field of study.

Growing up, my family didn’t have a lot of money for extracurricular activities or advanced technology in the home. My school had an excellent computer lab with donated equipment. I spent every spare minute I could in that lab, learning everything I could about hardware, software, programming languages, and more. I soaked up knowledge from whatever books and tutorials I could find. The librarian quickly learned my interests and would alert me to any new books or magazines on computing topics. Those early hands-on experiences in that computer lab solidified my passion and sparked the drive to learn more. They showed me how empowering technology can be when it unlocks new abilities and knowledge. That’s when I realized I wanted to study computer science and pursue a career where I could continue learning and solving complex problems through technology.

In high school, I started taking every computer science and programming course that was offered. I also joined several after-school coding clubs. Outside of school, I spent endless hours learning new languages like Java, C++, Python, and more through online tutorials and MOOCs. I participated in several hackathons and programming competitions. This allowed me to apply what I had learned, get feedback on my work from industry mentors, and meet other talented programmers. Through these experiences, my coding abilities advanced rapidly as I learned best practices for everything from debugging to version control. These extracurricular activities demonstrated my strong work ethic and passion that went above and beyond normal coursework.

To further explore my interests, I enrolled in Running Start to take college-level computer science courses at the local community college during my junior and senior years of high school. This allowed me to get a head start on university studies while still in high school. I excelled in advanced programming, data structures, algorithms, operating systems and more. My professors recognized my drive to learn and natural aptitude. One professor became my research mentor, and I assisted him with a software project. This experience was invaluable, as it provided real-world job shadowing and a strong recommendation letter. I also volunteered tutoring beginning programming students on campus. Helping others learn strengthened my own knowledge while developing my teaching and leadership abilities. All of these experiences cemented that computer science was the right major and career path for me.

Since graduating high school, I’ve continued learning through additional MOOCs and self-study while working part-time jobs. This further strengthened my programming skills and diversified my technical skillset. I taught myself new languages like Swift, R and C#, gaining exposure to mobile, data science and systems applications. I also regularly network within my local tech community by attending meetups and conferences. Through connections made in these activities, I completed an internship at a tech startup last summer. I was able to apply classroom knowledge directly to solving real business problems the company faced. I assisted with automation of workflows, built prototypes using agile methodologies and gained appreciation for UX/UI considerations. This hands-on experience reinforced that I want to work in the industry upon graduating from university.

I believe my technical abilities, passion for learning and leadership skills would enable me to succeed in your computer science program. The scholarship would allow me to focus fully on my studies and campus activities without financial burden. Having taken college-level coursework already, I am confident that I can excel at your institution. I would take full advantage of the facilities and faculty to further advance my skills. Then I can leverage my degree to build a satisfying career developing innovative technologies of the future. Thank you for your consideration and for helping driven students follow their dreams through generously awarded scholarships. Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide to strengthen my application for this award. I look forward to the opportunity to join your outstanding computer science program.

DISADVANTAGE OF TECHNOLOGY ESSAY

While technology has certainly brought benefits to our world, it also comes with some disadvantages that are important to acknowledge. As technology has advanced at an ever-increasing pace, especially in recent decades, it has changed the way we live and work in both positive and negative ways. Some of the key disadvantages of today’s technologies include increased isolation, declines in real-world social skills, addiction potential, distractions, job disruption and threats to privacy and security.

One major disadvantage of modern technologies is how they have increased isolation for many individuals. While the internet allows us to stay connected with others via messaging, video calls and social media, those interactions often lack real in-person contact and true human connection. Many people now spend much of their free time engaged with screens instead of interacting face-to-face with friends and family. They may text or message people in the same home rather than talking to each other directly. This type of virtually-mediated communication, while convenient, does not provide the same social and psychological benefits as unplugged interactions. As a result, loneliness and isolation have been steadily rising among technology and internet users as the nature of social interaction has changed.

Along with increased isolation, experts warn that heavy reliance on technology can cause real declines in peoples’ social skills. When online interactions replace in-person exchanges, skills like maintaining eye contact, reading body language, engaging in polite small talk and resolving conflicts face-to-face can begin to atrophy from disuse. Younger generations in particular seem to be losing these types of interpersonal skills as technology immerses them from an early age. The ability to communicate and empathize with others, understand nonverbal cues, and engage comfortably in social situations are vital life skills that technology has made more challenging for many to develop. Experts argue this “social skills gap” could have serious consequences down the road for things like relationship-building, workplace functioning and leadership abilities.

Another disadvantage of modern technologies like social media, video games and even the internet itself is the high potential for addiction. As these technologies are designed to be engaging, immersive and reward-driven to hold users’ attention, some individuals are more prone to compulsive, non-stop use that disrupts other important areas of life. Researchers have recognized “internet use disorder” and “gaming disorder” as legitimate addictions, though video game addiction in particular is still controversial. For certain personalities, excessive engagement with stimulating technology can trigger dopamine releases in the brain’s reward system similar to substances like drugs, sex or gambling. This response reinforces unhealthy, obsessive habits that are difficult to break. Technology addiction has ruined jobs, harmed relationships and even contributed to deaths in rare cases of total social isolation and loss of hygiene.

A closely related issue is how technologies can easily distract users from other tasks and responsibilities. With notifications constantly pinging on phones and other devices about new emails, messages, updates and notifications, concentrating fully on any single thing is challenging for individuals bombarded with stimuli competing for their attention. Multi-tasking with technology has also been shown to severely impair productivity and effectiveness. Research finds people who are regularly distracted take 50% longer to complete tasks and remember less information. Workplace distractions due to personal technology use, for example, cost the US economy an estimated $650 billion annually. Students report technologies distract them immensely from academics as well, even if banned from classrooms. Constant partial attention is difficult for the brain and can negatively impact both cognitive performance and mental well-being long-term.

Heavy reliance on technology also poses threats to many jobs and careers as processes are automated and digitalized. While new technology-related jobs are certainly being created, existing jobs are also threatened. Robots, AI, automation and other innovations are shown to replace human roles across many industries like manufacturing, transportation, food service, retail, health care and others. Research from Oxford University estimated 47% of total US employment is at high risk of potential computerization in the coming decades. While job disruption from new technologies is not entirely new, the current pace of changes means entire skill sets could become obsolete faster than in the past. This causes uncertainty and disruptions as workers must continually re-skill and adapt to the evolving job market. Younger generations may struggle the most with lack of stability and clear career pathways ahead as technologies transform the work landscape dramatically.

Modern technologies present some important disadvantages relating to privacy, security, and the shifting of societal norms. With so much personal data being collected, shared and stored online by companies and governments, as well as vulnerabilities like data breaches, consumers have less control over and visibility into how their information is used. Advanced surveillance technologies also enable unprecedented monitoring powers by authorities. Cyber crimes including identify theft, hacking and online scams pose serious financial and other risks. More generally, the nature of social interaction and cultural values are in flux as technologies shape new norms, for better and worse. Displays of oversharing or lack of online boundaries could damage reputations or social lives. People become “addicted” to technology’s dopamine hits without fully understanding long-term impacts. Steady technological change means adjusting to an uncertain information environment with risks that were not issues in less digital eras.

While technology delivers tremendous benefits to modern life and economies, it also introduces several social, psychological and economic disadvantages that should not be ignored or downplayed. Increased isolation, declines in interpersonal skills, addiction potentials, constant distraction, job disruption threats and diminished control over privacy are real issues that technology has brought or exacerbated for many individuals and societies. Responsible and balanced use of technologies can help manage such risks and maximize upsides. With devices now ubiquitous and social networks deeply integrated into daily routines, some disadvantages may persist or intensify as innovations continue advancing rapidly. Maintaining moderation and mindfully managing screen time seems increasingly important for well-being in today’s digitally connected world. A more nuanced understanding acknowledges both benefits and costs of our highly tech-mediated modern existence.
